Help us make schools more inclusive for disabled children

Every child deserves to feel safe, supported and included at school. But too often, disabled children and young people face suspensions, exclusions or barriers to attending school because their needs aren't being met.

In England, pupils receiving SEN support are over six times more likely to be permanently excluded than pupils with no identified SEN, according to Department for Education statistics.

As part of their wider plans around changes to the SEND system, the Government is asking for views on how school exclusions could be reformed. We want to ensure the experiences of disabled children, young people and their families are heard through the Disabled Children’s Partnership’s formal consultation response.

Whether your child has experienced exclusion, been sent home early, kept in seclusion rooms, missed education because their needs weren't supported, or you've had a positive experience of inclusive education, we want to hear from you.

Share your experiences and tell us what needs to change.

Your responses will help shape DCP's submission to the Government's consultation and strengthen our calls for a school system where every child can learn, belong and thrive.

It should only take around 5 minutes to complete. The deadline to take part in the survey is 9am on Monday 16th November.
